What's included
Pool remodeling in Nashville is about refreshing the in-ground pool you already have, not building a new one. Over the years plaster wears rough, waterline tile loosens, coping cracks and the deck starts to shift. Passion Pool Care helps homeowners across Greater Nashville bring a tired pool back to a surface that looks good and feels smooth underfoot.
A pool remodel usually combines a few related jobs. The interior surface can be resurfaced, the waterline tile and coping replaced, and calcium scale removed from tile and stone. Deck cracks near the coping get repaired so water stops working its way behind the beam. Old equipment can be upgraded while the pool is empty and the plumbing is easy to reach.
We start with a walk around the pool and an honest look at what actually needs work. Sometimes a good cleaning, a tile repair or balanced water is all it takes. When a pool remodel does make sense, you get a clear scope and a free, no-obligation quote. Afterward, our weekly service helps protect the new surface for the long haul.
Is it time?
These signs usually mean the pool surface or structure needs more than routine cleaning.
01
The pool plaster feels rough like sandpaper and scrapes feet or swimsuits.
02
Gray patches show where the pool plaster has worn thin over the shell.
03
Hollow spots in the pool surface sound different when you tap them.
04
Stains on the pool plaster keep coming back after an acid wash.
05
Waterline tile is loose or falling off, or the pool coping has cracked.
06
The pool deck has cracked, settled or lifted near the coping.
Remodel details
Surfaces, tile, coping and deck all age differently. These are the parts of a remodel we talk through with every homeowner.
01
Pool plaster is a thin cement coat over the shell, and water chemistry works on it every day. Water that is low in calcium or pH slowly dissolves the surface and leaves it etched and rough. Water that runs high deposits calcium scale. In Middle Tennessee, summer heat, heavy rain from afternoon thunderstorms and the seasonal open and close cycle all push the chemistry around. Over time the surface roughens, stains set in, and a pool remodel becomes a better choice than another round of patching.
02
Resurfacing replaces the worn interior finish of an in-ground pool. Traditional plaster is smooth and classic but is the most sensitive to water balance. Quartz finishes mix crushed quartz into the plaster to resist etching and hold color longer. Pebble finishes expose small stones in the surface, so the stone takes the wear instead of the cement. The right choice depends on how the pool is used and how much upkeep you want. We talk through the options when we quote pool resurfacing.
03
Waterline tile and coping sit on the top edge of the pool, called the bond beam. When grout fails or coping cracks, water can get behind the tile and into the shell. Freezing Middle Tennessee winter nights make that worse, because trapped water expands and pushes tiles loose. Tile and coping work is usually done with the water lowered or the pool drained, which makes it a natural part of a pool remodel. Calcium scale on existing tile and stone can be removed at the same time.
04
Clay soil in Middle Tennessee swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and pool decks move with it. Cracks near the coping let water under the slab and behind the beam, and freeze and thaw cycles widen them each winter. The expansion joint between the deck and coping needs a flexible sealant, not packed dirt or hard mortar. Pool deck repair can mean sealing cracks, refilling that joint or resetting sections that have settled, so the deck and pool can move without damaging each other.
05
A new pool surface is at its most delicate in the first weeks after the pool is refilled. It needs regular brushing to lift plaster dust and careful balancing of calcium, pH and alkalinity before normal chlorine levels. After that, balanced water is what keeps a remodel looking good for years. Our weekly pool service keeps the same friendly technician on your pool every week, testing and balancing the water and brushing the walls and tile line, so the new surface stays smooth.

No. Our pool remodeling work focuses on refreshing existing in-ground pools: resurfacing, tile, coping, deck repair and equipment upgrades. We do not build new pools.
An acid wash removes a thin layer of plaster to lift stains. If the plaster is rough, thin, hollow in spots or stained again soon after a wash, pool resurfacing is usually the better choice.
Many owners plan pool remodeling for the months when the pool is closed or lightly used, so it is ready for spring. Freezing nights and heavy rain can affect the work, so we plan the schedule with you.
Yes. A pool remodel is a good time to replace an old pump, filter or heater on any major brand, since the plumbing is easy to reach.
