What's included
Nashville summer evenings are made for the pool, and a working light makes night swimming safer and the backyard far more inviting. When a pool light goes out, trips the breaker or fills with water, most owners simply stop using the pool after dark.
A pool light sits underwater on a line voltage or low voltage circuit, so pool light installation is an electrical safety job first. The GFCI protection, the junction box, the cord and the bonding all matter as much as the new fixture. A light that looks fine but is wired poorly is a risk to swimmers.
We start by testing the circuit from the breaker to the light. Then we remove the old fixture, replace it with a new LED pool light or repair what can be repaired, fit a new gasket and lens seal, and wet test the fixture before it goes back in the niche.
Is it time?
Some pool light problems are a bulb or a seal, while others call for a new fixture and a closer look at the wiring.
01
The pool light is out and a new bulb has not brought it back.
02
Turning on the pool light trips the GFCI or the breaker every time.
03
Water or condensation is visible inside the pool light lens.
04
The pool light fixture has come loose and is hanging out of its niche.
05
Your pool still uses an old incandescent light that burns out often.
06
The pool light flickers, dims or changes color on its own.
Pool lighting
Many older pools in Middle Tennessee still have incandescent pool lights. They draw a lot of power, run hot and burn out often. An LED pool light uses a fraction of the electricity, lasts far longer and can offer white or color-changing options. In most cases an LED replacement fixture fits the existing niche, so upgrading does not mean changing the pool itself. We confirm the fixture size and voltage your pool needs before recommending one.
The GFCI protecting your pool light is designed to shut off power the moment current leaks where it should not. When a pool light trips it, the usual causes are water inside the fixture, a damaged cord or moisture in the junction box, often after heavy Nashville thunderstorms. Resetting it over and over hides a real problem. We trace the fault and fix it rather than bypassing the protection that keeps swimmers safe.
A pool light fixture sits in a niche in the pool wall, with extra cord coiled behind it so it can be lifted out for service. The cord runs through conduit to a junction box near the deck, then to the breaker. Water in the conduit, a corroded junction box or a cord that is too short can all cause trouble. During pool light installation we inspect this path and tell you plainly if anything behind the light needs attention.
Metal parts in and around a pool, including the light niche, should be bonded together so they sit at the same electrical potential. Missing or broken bonding is a common finding on older pools. While the pool light is out, we check what we can see of the bonding and the fixture's grounding and point out anything that should be corrected by an electrician. Safety comes before looks every time.
Not every dark pool light needs a new fixture. A failed bulb in a sound incandescent housing or a leaking gasket can often be repaired. If the fixture is corroded, the lens is cracked or the cord is damaged, a replacement LED pool light is usually the better long-term choice. We give you both options with our honest recommendation, and a free quote for either.

FAQ
Still have a question? Call or text (615) 624-7624.
It depends on the fixture, the wiring and what we find at the niche, so we give a free, no-obligation quote first. Call (615) 624-7624.
Usually not. In most pools the fixture has enough cord to be lifted from the niche to the deck with the water in, though we confirm this for your pool before the job.
In most cases, yes. An LED pool light replacement usually fits the existing niche and uses far less power than an old incandescent light.
It usually means water in the fixture, a damaged cord or moisture in the junction box. The pool light should stay off until the fault is found and fixed.
Many color-changing LED pool lights can be controlled by automation systems. We check compatibility with your equipment before the pool light installation.
We recommend turning the pool light off at the breaker and calling us to check it. A flickering or failing light can signal water in the fixture.
